Slate blue silk brocade pair of stays, woven w/ small upright flower sprays of brown silk pansy, cream bluebells & foliate motif. detachable elbow length shaped sleeves tied w/ four blue silk ribbons, tabbed at lower edge, fully lined in linen w/ baleen boning, Italian or French, 1780-1790, B 29.5”, L 19.5”, (front laces N/I, 0.25” holes in silk CF placket, light wear to underarms w/ tiny-0.5” wear spots/hole along edge, wear to silk on lower tabs w/ tiny-0.25” holes, moderate wear CB tabs w/ few holes up to 0.75”, light 1” stain CF, shatter to SLV ribbons, minor discoloration & wear, few pin-tiny holes & stains) very good. Provenance: ex-collection of Pegaret Anthony, who acquired them from the estate of Mariano Fortuny.
