Our November sale in the historic St. Paul Auditorium features signature pieces from some of the most important designers in American fashion. This eclectic selection of antique & vintage fashion, rare and historic textiles, shoes, hats, handbags, and a wide assortment of fashion accessories will bring together items from the Brooklyn Museum Costume Collection, Virginia’s Colonial Williamsburg, The Museum of Fine Arts (Boston), the Montclair Art Museum with select additions from other institutions, estates and individual consignors.

Our studio is filled with American, European and Asian treasures from the 17th through the late 20th century. Items to be sold include hand embroidered or woven textiles, rare men’s 18th C. garments, an 1832 framed map of London printed on linen, 20th C. vintage & couture garments, a collection of early Chinese & Japanese embroideries, weavings and robes from the Museum of Fine Arts, six pairs of 18th C. women’s shoes and other fashion accessories.

Of particular interest are pieces from the world-renowned Brooklyn Museum Costume Collection, begun more than 100 years ago. Included in the upcoming sale are rare pieces from designers Claire McCardell, Galanos, Norman Norell, Thea Porter, Valentina, Mme. Gres, Carolyn Schnurer, Halston, and Bonnie Cashin, among others. Many of the designers with garments included in the November 4th sale are key figures in the development of American fashion. These items, out of public view for decades, are creating a buzz among museum curators, collectors, fashion designers, costumers, historians and all fans of vintage style.
