Banner of off white ribbed silk embroidered w/ polychrome silk & various textured flat metal gilt strips in scrolling floral, fruit & ribbon motifs, 2 loom widths seamed & embroidered w/ mirror symmetrical design, applied border of gilt metal lace, upper edge puckered indicating it was gathered, possibly ends of an altar frontal, Italy, early 18th c, 35.5” x 33.5”, (light discoloration, wear to lace trim, varied tarnish to metal threads, 0.25”-0.75” light stains, few holes up to 0.75” behind embroidery, few pulls, minor shatter at edges) good.
