French black velvet dolman style cape w/ embroidered leaves & florals in French knots, chain stitch, bullion stitch, satin stitch & jet beading, applied Chantilly & Maltese lace medallions, passementerie, petit gland edging over Chantilly lace at hem, corded CF paired button w/ jet highlights & looped frog closure, quilted lining, SH-SH 16", L 40", (bead disease on buttons, lining torn, 0.25" stain CF B, interior W cord removed & patched over, padded embroidery worn) good; t/w 1 woman's wool coat of black broadcloth, c. 1870, (missing most buttons).
