Black strapless silk taffeta ballgown w/ asymmetrical wrapped front bodice formed from crossed back skirt panels, full slightly trained skirt, c. 1958, label "Christian Dior, London", couture # "4322", "Holt Renfrew & Company Limited", B 40", W 31", L 48.5"-52", (bones poking through, 0.25"-0.75" tears in hem or zip facing, tacks broken at neckline, 1.5" line stain at seat, few tiny-0.25" stains, petticoat & bodice structure worn) very good. Provenance: Elena Jofré Serey de Chávez (1908-1987) of Santiago, Chile, wife of Chilean diplomat who served in consular posts in Peru, Canada & the USA, including as Consul General in NYC. Commissioned oil painting, dated 1965.
